I decided to stop working for companies and accounting firms for one main reason: I don't think they help their clients, and often don't know what they can provide.
Most accountants do not use Xero, QuickBooks and the like - they download a Trial Balance and a General Ledger report at Year End and work off that; they don't know how to administer your accounts, and bring your accounts into a format you can use.
Many accountants also have never worked on accounts - they get trained up in an accountancy firm and so never learn how to adjust accounts, make corrections and all the little tricks and ticks of even popular software.
Many account packages also only provide basic Management Accounts - a dashboard that shows your expenses, maybe a cashflow without a forecast.
I've worked internal to a number of companies across several industries - I've raised invoices, chased customers for payment, negotiated with suppliers - and been alongside the directors as they plan the next steps for their companies.
What you can expect from me:
Honest, upfront approach - I'm not going to beat around the bush!
Suggestions for improvement; providing you options and working with you for what works for you
Strategy planning - how you can save money; how you can better spend it
Debt, loans and savings advice including Income & Expenses statements
Catch-up and checking comparing to previous periods - together we can track progress and highlight issues to deal with
What I've worked on before:
Agreement for Share Purchase of a £2million company in Hertfordshire using a 5-year payment plan and projection
Transfer of Havens Hospices charity accounts from Microsoft GP to Sage Intacct
Restructuring and correction of NFR Transport Accounts to a useable state from years of mismanagement
Sales collection for Shipman Security Systems; over 1/3rd of their Turnover due over 120 days old, brought down to within 30 days; previously 1/3rd being written-off each year
